Google Image Tagger coming soon?

More domains to report — Google registered three new domains on Monday that lead me to believe they are making something that is aimed at giving images extra meta information that is easier to search.  The new domains are:

googleimagetagger.com/net/org

What is an "image tagger"?  A quick search led me to a piece of software from Earthmate.com that takes information recorded from a GPS receiver and compares it with the timestamp on pictures to display where images were taken on a map.  Doesn’t that sound like something Google could do with Google Earth/Maps, a GPS receiver and Picasa?

Obviously this is only speculation, but it can’t be that far away since Yahoo added a similar feature to their mapping product the same day these domains were registered.  What do you think?  Is this domain hinting at a service similar to Yahoo’s, or will it be something completely separate that allows users to easily "tag" their own photos?
