Gmail Paper, and other features, may become reality

When you have a suggestion for Gmail, you will most likely find yourself on the "Suggest a Feature For Gmail" page.  Several of the options on this page in the past have become reality — now is the time to make bets as to which ones from the new list will be implemented too.

One of the more interesting ones for me is the "Export messages to CD for storage" feature.  That sounds an awful lot like what Gmail Paper offered on April fools day, doesn't it?

  • Export messages to CD for storage
  • Colorful backgrounds skins
  • Rich text signatures
  • Backgrounds in chat windows
  • Message personalization (message backgrounds, default font, etc)
  • More chat emoticons (including custom ones)
  • Sub-labels
  • Blacklist contacts
  • Tighter integration with other Google products
  • To-Do list
  • Add notes to messages
  • Multi-person chat
  • Have Gmail do my laundry (umm… ok)

These are only some of the items available to choose from, but keep in mind, most probably haven't even entered the planning stage — Google likes to know what people actually want before spending too much time on new features.
