Tomorrow when you log into Google Docs it will “look different” according to the official blog. They are saying that the new version is in direct response to suggestions they have received by users like us. What could the changes include?

Here is what the announcement on their help group says:

That’s right, very soon we’re going to launch a new Docs list — a
wish fulfilled for those of us who’ve wanted an easier way to organize
and manage
our documents and spreadsheets.

Why are we announcing the launch of our new Docs list before it has
actually arrived, you ask?
Simple — with a change this big, we want to prepare you, so you’re
not overwhelmed by the sleek look and helpful new ways of organizing
your content
;)

We’ll post again once the Docs list is launched and highlight some of
these cool features and functions, but until then, take a deep breath
and ready yourselves for the future of Google Docs & Spreadsheets!

Cheers,
Syd

I think it’s fair to say the look of docs.google.com will be a complete overhaul — that’s good, because the current view is very plain and has much room for improvement. As for the new way to manage and organize your documents, I am hoping they will implement Google Gears for offline functionality!

Stay tuned — I’ll post a review of the update when it launches.

I just looked at it too, and it looks like it will be easier to find
documents, also indexing by who you share it with.

Now, if they can JUST solve the offline problem so it at least works in a basic mode when offline. We won't expect the import/export to work for the first offline version.... (Read the rest)
