Google will bow down to Techmeme, Facebook and Mahalo
Well, according to Robert Scoble it will. Why would a company that is susceptible to SEO ever succeed? My mother could care less that SEO happens — and people like her are the ones actually contributing to Google’s success. When people use Google to look for something, they find it, so why would they change?
His argument suggest that Google contains too much spam, and systems like Techmeme, Facebook and Mahalo are resistant to that problem. They are not. Anybody wanting to do SEO will find a way, regardless of which service is the most popular at the time.
- Bloggers that make up the “Techmeme fabric” are humans — it only takes a few that can be influenced with money to take advantage of the system.
- Many Facebook users simply try to make as many friends as possible. When this happens, the “network of trust” is no longer real and cannot be a part of an SEO-free system.
- The pages found on Mahalo itself may be difficult to doctor, but the content creators for pages it links to can be influenced by money — much the same way as Techmeme.
“Social Graph Search” is not all gumdrops and lollipops — if you look for flaws, they do exist. What do you think? Will Google be destroyed by “SEO resistant” technologies?
