Google has a beef with IE7
As reported by New York Times, Marissa Mayer says Google is upset that Microsoft makes MSN the default option for the search box in IE7. She insists that it is important users decide which search engine they want to use.
As Philipp Lenssen and Valleywag point out, it’s a bit hypocritical that Google is saying anything at all. Google is the default for search boxes in both Firefox and Opera — the two biggest competitors for Internet Explorer. But to counter that point, Google says it would support unfettered choice on those as well.
I agree that users should have as much choice as possible — but I think Google is stepping over the line on this one. If they really wanted to give users "unfettered choice", why don’t they give the option to download Opera, IE and Firefox in Google Pack?
