GrandCentral invitations now available

grandcentral_brand_tn1.jpgSince the company closed their doors to new signups, several people have asked me for an invitation. Today I received an email from Google with an invitation to join the service -- I didn't hesitate to sign up, just to see what all the hype is about.
Good news! We are excited to announce that we are opening the GrandCentral private beta to some additional users and would like to extend you an invitation to sign up. To get started, just click on the invitation link below and register for your free GrandCentral phone number.
To be honest, I am very impressed with the service. Even though it's not particularly useful for me yet, since they don't provide numbers in Canada, I was able to set up a number in San Francisco for myself and have it forward calls directly to my home and cell numbers here. inbox_tn.jpg It took me two minutes to register and set this all up -- and best of all, it's completely free, they don't even ask for your credit card. While the service is in beta, they even let you make outbound calls without cost -- well, up to three dollars, and from what I can understand they will replenish your account if that runs out. So now I have a few invitations -- if you are interested, send me an email. First come first serve. Update: All the invitations are gone unfortunately. If I get more, you will be the first to know!
