22 Tools to LifeLog Today

Imagine never forgetting anything. You'd be able to recall that person's name who you wanted to do business with at the tradeshow or just find those darn keys in the morning. That's what LifeLogging (aka e-memory) tool is all about. While there was lots of news this week about how the technology will be available next year to help you store you life online we found 21 more tools that let you LifeLog today. The big news this week in LifeLogging was how British digital camera maker Vicon will ship the SenseCam, a wearable, digital camera that captures an image of your surroundings every 30 seconds. Stored in a database, you'd be able to measure and review your life, of course, how this impacts your love life is another matter. The Sensecame though will only ship in 2010. Until then over here, I dug up a bunch of tools that you can use today for LifeLogging. Many of these tools come from the spy and health industries.

The Tiny Thumb-Size Spy Color DV Camera Recorder, for example, is a 2m pixel camera available that can store up to 8 GB using a microSD card. You can also try thePen Video Camera (left) to record 15 hours of video (though battery life is only 3 hours). Other tools include heart rate monitors, numerous geolocation tools to accurately label and identify where and when you took those photos and videos, and lots of software. In fact, software, I think, will be the bigget issue with LifeLogging. The data sets are enormous. Not only do you need some fantastically easy way to organize all of your data, you also need to be able to find your data. Numerous papers such as this one grapple with the issue. Meanwhile, you can focus on getting your life online by reading up on the rest of those tools.
