Oracle re-org confirmed, Fusion leader ousted
Sources have confirmed that as Vinnie Mirchandani correctly predicted, John Wookey, who spearheaded Oracle’s Fusion project is out. A company wide email was sent by CEO Larry Ellison detailing the organizational changes that will now take place. Details are as follows:
Thomas Kurian will head up Fusion middleware and Fusion applications. He will continue to report to Chuck Rozwat - who now will also own all the legacy applications headed up by ex-Siebeler Ed Abbo. Chuck Rozwat will be responsible for the development of database and middleware technologies, and all cross-industry applications.
No reason was given for Wookey’s departure though the email thanks him for his efforts and says that he will help with the transition. The changes take place with immediate effect. Given the weight of work that Wookey took on board in endeavoring to bring Fusion to market, that’s more than magnanimous, it’s heroic.
This latest development adds weight to the suggestion that Oracle will likely admit that Fusion will be delayed at its upcoming Oracle Open World company and customer wide get together. This will be music to SAPs ears as it talks more about its own product and development strategy during this week’s TechEd in Munich which I am attending.
