Speculation has been rife over at TechCrunch but sources close to events (as they say) have confirmed that Six Apart has sold LiveJournal for around $30 million to Russia’s SUP.

Insiders are said to be happy with their return on a $5 million investment to a market where partners are needed but where the partnering investment was deemed too risky compared to a trade sale.
