Unix server revenue down 5.9%, Windows server revenue up 4.7%, Linux server revenue up 20.7%
Revenue for global factory shipments of Unix servers slumped 5.9% to $5 bln. Windows servers rose 4.7% to $4.9 bln. Revenue from Linux servers was up 20.8% to $1.6 bln. IBM maintained the largest piece of the market with a 38.4% share in Q4 2005, IDC said. Hewlett-Packard grew faster and claimed 26.8% of the market, while Dell increased its share to 9.6%. Sun Microsystems saw its share fall to 8.2%.
