Major obstacle to electronic health records: 55.5% name funding
Associated Press discusses the reasons for electronic health records adoption. 61.3% of institutions consider input from internal departments, while 37.2% go out and ask for input from other practitioners and institutions and 25.8% listen to the patients’ opinions. As far as barriers to EHR adoption, 55.5% named lack of funding, 36% said nothing affordable was available on the market, 35.4% did not see any enthusiasm from the staff as far as EHR implementation, and 34.1% wanted a one-stop shop that would supply their EHR solution but instead got scared away by variety of vendors and need for integration
