10.5 mln BluRay players in the US in Q1 2009

About 9 mln high-definition units sold in the US in Q1 2009, up from the 4.8 mln that sold during Q1 2008, according to Adams Media Research. There are now 10.5 mln Blu-ray households, encompassing owners of both Blu-ray set-tops and Blu-ray-enabled PlayStation 3s.

Interesting, even for new releases?
When I was in Sydney two years ago, DVDs there were selling at about a 30% premium to disk prices in the US. And there were limited numbers of "bargain" disks, like the thousands of titles that are so... (Read the rest)
