Yankee Group published the current rankings of the US cellular companies. The following list represents top 8 US mobile operators by subscriber numbers and market share.
- Verizon Wireless: 37.5 mil, 24.3%
- Cingular Wireless: 24.0 mil, 15.6%
- AT&T Wireless: 22.0 mil, 14.2%
- Sprint : 20.4 mil, 13.2%
- T-Mobile: 13.1 mil, 8.5%
- Nextel : 12.3 mil, 8.0%
- Alltel: 7.9 mil, 5.1%
- U.S. Cellular: 4.4 mil, 2.9%
