Demand for TFT LCD to exceed supply in Q4 2004, Q1 2005
TFT LCD demand will surpass supply by 1% in December, as system makers slash their prices to reflect the ongoing panel price drops, according to iSuppli/Stanford Resources. The market research firm claims system makers have already placed urgent orders for year-end delivery, mostly for new products. Since key-component suppliers will need some time to adjust, iSuppli expects supply to continue to fall short of demand by 0.8% in Q1 2005. By Q2 of 2005, Taiwan-based panel makers will start ramping up capacity at their sixth-generation (6G) TFT LCD plants, and supply will exceed demand by 5.4% in Q2, iSuppli predicted.
