The business of releasing first run blockbuster titles for digital cinemas remains a strictly two-and-a-half studio affair for Hollywood, ScreenDigest reports. With 86 studio titles released in digital since 1999, only Disney/Buena Vista and Warner Bros are making a significant effort to release titles in digital with 28 and 25 respectively each to date. Twentieth Century-Fox has also increased its output in the last two years, currently totaling 13 titles (including the last tow Star Wars films). Disney’s Miramax has managed five titles, mainly those of director Robert Rodriguez, while Sony Pictures, Dreamworks SKG and Universal have managed just 12 between them. All other studios only have token release to their names.
