Video game console sales down 7% in 2004
Month-on-month unit sales of gaming hardware were off 12% for December 2004. For 2004, unit sales slumped 7%. Year-on-year December sales saw Xbox hardware sales down 7%, PlayStation 2 sales down 50%, GameCube sales down 30%, and Game Boy Advance hardware sales remain flat. Total software dollar sales were off just 1% in December 2004, compared to December 2003. Total dollar sales of video games in December were $1.7 bln, according to NPD data.
