Semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales up 64.2% in 2004
Semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales reached $37.9 bln in 2004, a 64.2% increase from 2003, according to Gartner. 10 of the top 10 vendors posted at least double-digit growth. Advantest and Canon reported triple-digit increases. Applied Materials, the leading vendor, posted a 96.6% increase in sales, which boosted its market share in 2004 to 16.5% from 14% in 2003. The company reported $6.3 bln in revenues.
