16% of all online spending went into apparel in 2004 holiday season
During the 2004 holiday season, shoppers spent a record $23.2 bln online, excluding travel, representing 25% YTY growth, according to Goldman, Sachs, Nielsen//NetRatings and Harris Interactive. 37% of online consumers claimed to be satisfied with 2004’s online shopping experience, and 30% said it was better than in 2003. Apparel was the top spending item and recorded a record high of $3.8 bln, or 16% of total online revenue. Toys and video games followed with $2.5 bln, or 11% of total online revenue. Consumer electronics attractedg $2.3 bln, or 10% of total online revenue.
