US digital camera market leaders: Kodak - 21.3%, Canon - 17.7%, Sony - 17.7%
US digital camera shipments to domestic retailers rose nearly 13% to 5.6 mln in Q3 2005 from 5 mln in Q3 2004, IDC says. Kodak shipped 1.25 mln digital cameras, 21% more than Q3 2004, and its market share rose to 21.3% from 19.8%. Canon and Sony were tied for #2, each with 1 mln shipments and a 17.7% slice of the US market. Fuji Photo jumped from #7 to #4 place with 483,000 shipments, an 8.6% share, while Olympus slipped down to a 7.1% share and a tie for #5 with Nikon Corp. HP had 6.7%.
