google_notebook.gifThank goodness for inquisitive geeks. Fellow ZDNet blogger Garett Rogers did some digging into the JavaScript underlying the new Google Notebook and found some clues as to what the plex may have in store for the new browser tool. I’ve had more than a little feedback on my dismissal of Notebook yesterday as another lackluster effort by the Googlers and I must admit I’m heartened by Garett’s discovery because the features-in-waiting he describes are precisely the kind of "OMG.. that is so cool!" ideas I didn’t see and had hoped for.

Check out Garett’s post to get the full skinny but in brief, here is what he discovered. Google Notebook appears to have hooks to:

  • Integration with the growing universe of Gadgets being developed for Google Desktop and the personalized Google Homepage.
  • Image uploading and HTML editing. Can you say "Blogger integration"?
  • Gmail integration? Yes!!!

Hope springs eternal. Thanks Garett!
