NM Museum to open PC history exhibit
I just read this in today's e-mail newsletter from our local business newspaper:
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science is opening a permanent exhibit hall that will highlight the computer revolution in the state where it all started.
The exhibit, titled "Startup: Albuquerque and the Personal Computer Revolution," will feature a history of Microsoft that dates to the 1960s. It will include stories of Paul Allen and Bill Gates, and the invention of the MITS Altair, a microcomputer developed in Albuquerque and the first computer available to the public.
Artifacts in the exhibit come from the Smithsonian, Microsoft Archives, the Paul G. Allen Family, and the Computer History Museum.
The Museum of Natural History and Science, located at 1801 Mountain Rd. NW, is set to unveil the exhibit on Nov. 18.
This will be undoubtedly be a great exhibit - the museum does a fabulous job. Between MITS and Microsoft, Albuquerque certainly was an early hotspot in the birth of the PC.
