Spyware versus virus

In his latest Security Watch column, Robert Vamosi offers a good comparison of the virus threat versus the spyware threat. Robert has covered computer viruses for a long time and knows the threats and the antivirus software very well. He concludes that the virus threat is currently almost negligible, but the spyware threat is nowhere near being constrained. Part of the problem stems from competitive antispyware vendors. Robert explains how antivirus vendors long ago started working together for the public benefit.

At the end of the column, he briefly comments about Microsoft’s Antispyware apparently going easy on Claria’s spyware. Microsoft has refuted this charge.
