Apparently so. From StopScum.com - Dale Begg-Smith & AdsCPM: A Spyware low life Criminal Distributor wins an Olympic Gold Medal for Australia

You can run but you can’t hide. If you fail to answer reporters questions in a candid and detailed manner, lots of folks will poke around and discover your checkered past. You may have won an Olympic Gold Medal, Mr. Dale Begg-Smith who runs/ran AdsCPM, but your checkered past is back to haunt you.

For details, read the entire story. Also from Wayne Porter at ReveNews:

It appears an Olympic Gold Medal winner was one of the young puppet masters behind a slimy network (AdsCPM) that made a killing in spyware. (Many of which I have seen before e.g. Lop.)

My first experience with spyware was from Lop.com. There are lots of comments at Slashdot. I expect more sordid details about Begg-Smith’s history with spyware will come to light in this story.
