I apologize for the lack of UDDs last week. I was in San Francisco Thursday and Friday where I got to have some great conversations with folks at Adobe about their products. I have a lot that I want to cover here about that visit, so check back over the next couple of weeks. As a result of my missing days, this is going to be a bit bigger than usual. Also, ZDNet now supports blog posts by email, so if you’d like to subscribe that way, this is the place to go.

  • Scott McNulty over on Wharton Brainstorm pointed out that the UI team for Vista is blogging. It looks like there will be some interesting content that RIA developers can use.
  • Dion Hinchliffe revisits RIAs. Seeing Dion write about RIAs was very cool because more and more of the big guys are getting it. This is a good article abut the next generation of web stacks.
  • Russell Shaw called VoIP after Adobe’s acquisition of Macromedia.
  • There is an interesting article from Wednesday over on CNet about Web 2.0 entering the corporate world. They talk a little bit about Ajax applications, and then Apollo and Flash get a mention. The corporate world can really make use of the Web 2.0 applications, but they require more. RIAs are the perfect way to transition these web 2.0 apps for corporations.
  • Steve Borsch is stoked about Rich Internet Applications. I always like reading the "I get it" posts about RIAs, and Richard’s is good.
  • Interesting conversation by Brad Abrams about when to have browser apps and when to have desktop apps. I think users are going to take much more quickly to web applications that actually run outside the browser. There are times when a browser is good, but delivering applications is not one of those times.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I’ll be much better about updating this week.
