jumpcut.gifJumpcut, one of the most promising video sites on the web has gone to Yahoo according to the Jumpcut blog and TechCrunch. Unlike most of the other video sites out there, Jumpcut had built up a very cool Flash interface that allows its users to edit their videos on the fly. It gives amateur vloggers a pretty good video editing suite including adding filters, effects and mixing in songs. It’s a great example of Flash being a big value add for consumers.

I think this is a great acquisition. I said that Adobe should buy Jumpcut because of the video editing technology they provide. It would have been a great compliment to their desktop suite, and clearly Yahoo thought so as well. This is the kind of web application that is going to get a lot more attention in the coming months, and one that simply isn’t possible with a browser. The fact that companies like Yahoo can see the value that Rich Internet Applications bring is very heartening. Jumpcut is going to make a great addition to their product line, and I’m excited to see the product grow. Congrats to the Jumpcut guys!
