Sorry about yesterday, I got caught up with election returns and didn't get a chance to round up the news.

  • Vista has been released to manufacturing. I talked a bit about the news that Windows Presentation Foundation was RTMed, and Vista is the big part of that picture. Here on ZDNet, Ed Bott and Mary Jo Foley have some excellent thoughts.
  • Richard MacManus highlighted a bit of Bruce Chizen's talk at the Web 2.0 summit. John Dowdell followed it up with a interesting post about Adobe's open source initiatives.
  • Dion Almaer has an inquisitive post about whether converging towards the desktop is good. The comments show that a lot of people don't care whether or not it's a desktop application or not, they just want it to work. Rich Internet Applications make that easy over a wide spectrum of requirements.
  • LazsloSystems has a new-look homepage. I don't like Flash for simple web sites, but they organized everything nicely and it does look better. It's too bad it has a loading page.
