We're getting the first look at a an application by Acesis, a medical company that brings clinical data capture to Rich Internet Applications using a Flex 2/Apollo application. They're showing a role play that you might see take place between a doctor and a patient. They walk through a test patient and the doctor is asking questions, filling out a form with some good user interface features like targeted-filling based on symptoms.

The goal of the form is "minimum number of clicks" so that a doctor can quickly enter relevant information without a lot of typing. The form user interface is adapted based on the symptoms that the patient has. On the surface, the form is pretty simple, but they're drilling down into some of the advanced features. They've packed a lot of info so that physicians can fill out information on prescription dose frequency and more complex symptoms.

James Governor of RedMonk asked how this ties back to a data model. The focus on the front end is less on how it is stored and more on normalizing the data so that it's usable. James also asked about the social aspect of this application. Once doctors have filled out this form, in theory they could swap diagnosis or foster a community around the data to make patients live better. The application is using Apollo because they don't see doctors as wanting to browse to a web page, and having the desktop allowed them to go offline if they need it to.
