The new, improved Scrapblog launches
Scrapblog, a startup I covered back in February, has finally launched so you can check out what the hype is about. Scrapblog was all done using Flex 2, and it really shows off what can be done with the platform. In many ways, it's a perfect use for Flash, because the idea is to drop the user into a world of rich media and allow them to build whatever they want.
While it's called Scrapblog, it isn't really about scrapbooking. The pages are just there as a way to show off your creation. While you can certainly create interactive scrapbooks with the application, it's really just about giving users the ability to make their creativity shine. On a development side, you couldn't do this with Ajax, and I love the fact that it shows off the power of Flash. When you want to give your users very engaging experiences, there is no better platform than Flash. And Flex 2 made it very easy to develop an entire application like this.
Since I saw the application in February, they've fixed bugs, added a lot of themes so you can get started quickly, and increased the number of assets (things like stickers and music).
