Robb at RIMarkable digs (and deserves Diggs for digging) up a BlackBerry Curve offering on Amazon.com that after a $75.00 rebate, and the signing of a two-year service plan with AT&T, you’ll actually be paid $30.01 to purchase the Curve in this way.

The math: $44.99 to buy, $75 rebate, =$30.01. Rebate check in hand before the year 2525, please?

Robb correctly intuits that Amazon is doing this deal with AT&T in part because Amazon won’t sell the iPhone. I’d say more: hemmed in by the iPhone’s sales channels restrictions, AT&T made this deal with Amazon to salve their feelings by giving them a wholesale break on the second-most-buzzed-about new handset on the market.

That’d be the BlackBerry Curve.
