A reliable source in the past, Pinstack Member PacketRat seems to have the scoop on forthcoming versions of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

If he’s right, we’re first due for an incremental upgrade in November of this year. The big news, though… let’s first see what he seems to know will be coming 11/07:

  • Intelligent HTML & TRF E-Mail handling
  • Free/Busy lookup during meeting request creation
  • Remote Email search and retrieval

Like I said though, there’s something bigger reportedly on the way. That’d be BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0, code-named Argon, due in the second quarter of 2008.

Once again if PacketRat’s correct, Argon will offer:

  • Brand new Admin UI
  • A full suite of APIs
  • Enhanced SW Configurations
  • Integration with AD
  • Custom Admin and User Roles
  • Hierarchal IT Polices
  • Primary - standby architecture
  • Automated failover option
  • Manual failover for maintenance

That chomp chomp sound you just heard are a bunch of admins licking their chops.
