It has been a few months since I wrote about the Celio REDFLY Mobile Companion device, but I just wanted to let you know that Celio Corp continues to add support for more and more Windows Mobile devices, while also working with partners to enhance the end-user experience. I purchased one of these unit and actually use it on my daily commute a few times a week. Today, Celio is promoting their support for Mobile Virtualization and Remote Access functionality.

Mobile virtualization and remote access helps drive the adoption of the REDFLY device

With the large display and keyboard, along with the two USB ports, the REDFLY is a perfect platform for connecting your Windows Mobile device to your work or home PC using a tool such as Citrix, Remote Desktop, GoToMyPC, or LogMeIn. I use a MacBook Pro at home and a Dell laptop that I shut down each evening at work, but the capabilities provided on my Windows Mobile device when paired with the REDFLY and one of these tools is very enticing and I think I’ll have to give them a try to see just how much I can get done with just my mobile phone. If the speeds are adequate and the connection is robust, I may be able to actually travel light with the REDFLY and leave the laptop behind.

I understand that this functionality is critical to the enterprise market and one of the major selling points for the REDFLY in industry. Celio actually pulled together a white paper that has more information on this capability that I found interesting. Have you used a REDFLY and your Windows Mobile phone as a terminal for your PC?
