The QuickOffice full Office suite is coming to the Google Android platformOne of the primary concerns I mentioned in my T-Mobile G1 Android first impressions was the embracing of the Google Android platform by developers. The key to the success of the Android and the G1 is not the hardware, but the software and the developers need to be there to enhance the entire experience. I mentioned needing an Office Suite for enterprise users to even consider using an Android device and just received word from my QuickOffice contact that they have been working on an Android-compatible product that is in the advanced stages of development and sent me this official statement:

“We’re currently developing our software for the Android platform and are very excited by the promise we’re seeing with the ecosystem. The openness of the platform will help third party developers, including Quickoffice, build robust applications for the device. We believe the G1 phone addresses consumer demands for devices with a slick user experience and high-quality applications, and are looking forward to being a part of system,” said Paul Moreton, VP of product management at Quickoffice.

I feel much more at ease now knowing that high quality developers such as QuickOffice are working to add functionality to the device and will keep my pre-order for my black G1.

In looking at the Android Developer Challenge gallery I see lots of social networking apps and location-based applications, which look quite unique. There is also the ShapeWriter application that provides text input with gestures. I am more excited about the device as I look at what should be coming soon, but still want to see even more and I am sure we will.

Have you found any developers who plan to launch an Android application you are looking forward to?
