Does the rumored HTC Leo really have a capacitive display?

The HTC Touch HD is the current super high end Windows Mobile device in HTC’s collection of devices. I tried it out a couple of times, but could not get over the lack of hardware buttons even though it had a large beautiful display and some super specifications. There are now rumors of its successor, the HTC Leo that take this form factor to the next level with a Snapdragon processor.

Possible specifications of this rumored device (has not been announced by HTC), include:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 1 GHz processor (now we are talking)
  • Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system
  • 4.3 inch, 480×800 pixels WVGA capacitive touch screen display
  • 5 megapixel camer with 2 LED flash lights
  • 512MB ROM and 320MB RAM
  • 1230 mAh battery
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS

I didn’t think capacitive displays were supported in Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5 so this may be wishful thinking here. Then again, HTC is the innovator in the Windows Mobile space and pushes Windows Mobile to the max so this could be true. Rumors have this device coming to Europe as soon as October so we will have to keep an eye out for this device.
