The HTC Touch HD was never released here in the US, but I did see the European one once and it was a slick device with lots of appeal. We have seen updates to the Touch Pro and Diamond lines and rumors of a successor to this Touch HD as well. It appears that the successor is no longer really a rumor as you can see a ton of photos of the device and screenshots over on the ai.rs blog site. This new large touchscreen device looks sweet and should appeal to those that can live without a hardware QWERTY keyboard.

The ai.rs blog previously posted the specs of the HTC Leo and some of the key ones are:

  • 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
  • Windows Mobile 6.5
  • 4.3 inch WVGA capacitive touch screen
  • 5 megapixel camera

It has all the other typical high end specs too, such as WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, accelerometer, etc. For comparison, the HTC Touch HD had a 528 MHz processor, WM 6.1, 3.8 inch resistive display, and 5 megapixel camera so this is a very nice upgrade.

Unfortunately, like the HTC Touch HD I highly doubt we will see this released by a US wireless carrier and there may not even be a version that supports the AT&T or T-Mobile 3G data network. There has been no official announcement yet, no release date, and no pricing.
