Even though I am quite disappointed with Windows Mobile 6.5 that doesn’t mean that I still don’t like Windows Mobile devices and personally find my T-Mobile Touch Pro2 with Spb Mobile Shell 3.5 (see my review) to be one of the best devices I have in my collection. I was excited to read the HTC press release announcing the HTC HD2 that runs Windows Mobile 6.5 with their HTC Sense UI (something I LOVE on the Sprint HTC Hero) on a huge 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display.

Specifications of the HTC HD2, previously known as the rumored HTC Leo, are as follows:

  • 4.3 inch 480×800 pixels resolution capacitive display with multi-touch support
  • 1GHz Snapdragon mobile processor
  • 512 MB ROM
  • 448 MB RAM
  • 1230 mAh battery
  • 5 megapixel camera with dual LED
  • Proximity sensor and accelerometer
  • GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth
  • Standard 3.5mm headset jack

I understand that the device also has a car kit that integrates into the back of the device so you can truly use it as a GPS navigation unit in your car. The specifications are very impressive, but I imaging this high end functionality will come at a high price. Hopefully, we see it on a US carrier as a subsidized device in 2010.

The HTC HD2 will be available later in October in Europe with other regions seeing it over the coming months.
