Want a sleek RAZR-like Nokia S60 device for just $70?

Want a sleek RAZR-like Nokia S60 device for just $70?My first S60 phone was the Nokia 3650 and it was a device that served primarily as a phone. I don’t think many people who owned the device even knew how powerful of a mobile operating system it was and all of the functions they could perform. I know I focus on the higher end smartphone for my personal usage, but there are many more people out there that just want a phone primarily for making and receiving calls.

AT&T and Nokia announced the release of a device, the Nokia 6650, that is primarily a solid mobile phone, but also has the backing of S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 so it can do a whole lot more if you want it to. The 6650 is a very slim clamshell, these are popular in the US, phone that also has a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth with A2DP support, aGPS capability, microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm headset jack.

Even though it has all of these media features, if you look at the device your first thought would be that it is a RAZR-like mobile phone with a brushed metal exterior. Underneath the exterior is where it packs quite a bit, including support for AT&T’s 3G network and AT&T Navigator, AT&T Video Share, and AT&T Mobile Music. The device will be available tomorrow, 14 November, for only US$69.99 with a two year service agreement and US$50 mail-in rebate.

Thanks to Phone Scoop for the heads-up on this release.

Andrew posted about another Nokia device that has a SureType-like keyboard in this RAZR-like form factor so it looks like consumers that want a phone first rather than a high end smartphone may have a few good choices soon.
