Opera Mini 4.2 comes out of beta, Google Android beta is now officialI mentioned finding Opera Mini 4.2 beta on my T-Mobile G1 yesterday and it seems the application appeared a bit early in the Android Market. Today, Opera officially announced Opera Mini 4.2 beta for the Google Android device that was actually a subpart to the announcement that Opera Mini 4.2 is now available for other devices as a full release product and comes out of beta.

Opera Mini 4.2 is a very fast browser for many mobile devices and I actually prefer to use it on my S60 devices over the default browser due to the speed. Granted, Opera Mini pages are served up via Opera, but it is still a very nice browsing experience. Opera reports the following:

21 million unique users browsed five billion pages in October 2008 alone, totaling a remarkable 490 percent increase since October 2007.

You can get Opera Mini 4.2 on Java-enabled phones and if you have a Samsung Instict you can upgrade the firmware and get the new version of Opera Mini too.
