I started using Qik on my Nokia N95 over a year ago and find it to be an entertaining and great service on my Nokia devices that have great cameras. Today, Qik announced two advancements for Nokia that should increase the number of satisfied Qik users. Qik will be a featured application on the upcoming Ovi Store so that should give them lots of exposure on the millions of Nokia handsets around the world. They also announced that Qik will be integrated into Ovi Share so that videos capture within Qik will also be posted to your Ovi Share account for sharing with family, friends, and the world.

Qik has been supporting uploads to YouTube, but the integration with Ovi Share is welcome by Nokia users who prefer to use the integrated Ovi services provided by Nokia. I have used Ovi Share a few times for video, but the limits prevent me from using the service for my reviews. According to the press release, Ovi Share allows unlimited video uploads and mobile functionality through Qik - all for free. With these Qik videos I plan to use the Ovi Share service because it gives you fine control over what content is shared with selected groups you setup. Also, there are some great notification setting in Ovi Share so that viewing your content is simple for family and friends.

In addition to having your Qik settings automatically post to your Ovi Share account, you can send your videos to Ovi Share with just one click from the Share widget on Qik’s website. I went in this morning and enabled the Nokia Ovi Share account settings in my Qik account and then used my Nokia N85 to test out this new capability. It worked like a champ and within a minute or so of shooting the video it was up on my Ovi Share account. You may see me carrying my Nokia N85 more now and capturing video on the go to share.
