Samsung announced the future release of two new point-and-shoot models today: the SL720 and SL502. Each will come built with 12-megapixel resolution and 5x optical zoom.

The higher-end model of the two is the SL720 ($229.99), packed with a 28mm wide-angle lens, 3-inch LCD screen and H.264 720p HD movie capture with optical zoom. The more standard SL502 ($149.99) comes with a 35mm lens, 2.7-inch LCD screen, VGA Motion JPEG movie capture and digital image stabilization. Both cameras will also feature Samsung’s Smart Auto mode, which includes scene, face and smile/blink detection.
