iPhone is the most popular camera on Flickr

The iPhone camera is continuing to prove to be a photo force to be reckoned with, even against much higher quality DSLR models. According to the Los Angeles Times this week, after months of rising competition with the Canon Rebels XSi and XTi, Canon 40D and the Nikon D80, the 2.0-megapixel camera is the clear winner on the popular photo-sharing site, Flickr. Part of the reason behind the iPhone’s success, the article says, is that iPhone users are “notoriously heavy consumers of mobile Internet” making them more “apt to share the photos they take on more websites.”

Personally, I usually don’t bother uploading my iPhone photos to Flickr due to their low quality, and instead just leave them on Facebook. My iPhone photos are usually more casual and less important than anything I would shoot on my Canon 1000D. I tend to only publish my DSLR photos to Flickr, using it as an online portfolio and for back-up files in case something happens to my laptop and portable hard drive. But I’m not completely surprised by the results, as iPhone users (myself included) are dangerously addicted to the Internet.

Are you surprised by the findings? From which camera do you post photos to the web?
