Digital camera sales still strong, Retrevo report says
Apparently the sour economy hasn’t deterred eager photographers from buying new cameras. Retrevo, a consumer electronics shopping site, has found an uptick in digital camera sales this year. Demand for digital cameras declined 30% in 2008, whereas purchases have risen (with tiny dips here and there) since the end of last year. The report accounts for the increase due to steady prices and more cell phone models being shipped with more advanced built-in cameras.
Has the recession deterred you from buying a digital camera in the last year? If you did buy a new camera, how has the economy played a role in that purchase (i.e. buying a cheaper rather than better camera to fit your budget), if at all?
