With so many recently announced entry-level DSLRs hitting the market (besides the Canon Rebel Getting a Canon Rebel XSi or Nikon D60? Stow it in this. there’s the Pentax K200D and Sony’s sub $900 trifecta, the Alpha DSLR-A200, -A300, and -A350), this new backpack from LowePro is going to come in handy with a lot of folk. I loved it from the moment I laid hands on it at the LowePro booth at PMA 2008. Taking a page from hiking backpacks, the LowePro Flipside 200’s long, trim silohette distributes camera weight comfortably while maintaining a low profile. The main compartment is designed to fit a consumer DSLR with an 80-200mm f/2.8 lens attached, plus up to three additional lenses (or flash units). You access the compartment via a zipper around the panel of the pack that’s against your back, which provides a nice level of security (no one can get in while it’s on your back) as well as a quick, convenient way to access your camera without putting the pack down (with the waistband attached, just drop the shoulder straps, slide the bag around in front of you, and unzip). It’s ideal for traveling or hiking, but I like it so much I’d use it as my main camera bag. Nice touches include a hideaway tripod holder, mesh water bottle pocket, and a removable accessory pouch for cables, chargers etc. The bag comes in Black, Arctic Blue, or Red and lists for $79.99 (a larger, professional DSLR version, the Flipside 300, sells for $99.99).

Hmmm, no I don't think so - I'll stick with my Billingham Packington, it hangs by my side - I'd hate to wear this in a city and would be constantly weary of people dipping my backpack if I had one of these.... (Read the rest)
