Where to get the cheapest online photo prints
With everyone pinching pennies these days, paying too much to print out your photos can add up. Though not as convenient as printing photos on your own photo printer, online photo finishers offer much cheaper per print prices. But not all online sites are created equal–it’s worth it to shop around to get the best prices. For the latest information on pricing trends (including where to get the cheapest online photo prints around), check out the results of the recent PMA Marketing Reasearch survey of online photo and retailer sites.
While prices have remained constant for the most part over the first quarter of 2009, with the average 4×6 print costing about 14 cents a print, the PMA reported a big drop in 11×14 prints spurred by a price cut at MyPhotoPipe.com, which lists a standard 11×14 print at just $3.99 (compared to the current average of $6.86 across all sites). Other highlights include a slight drop in shipping prices for standard 4×6 prints, with Costco currently the only site that offers free shipping on basic prints.
So where should you go if you want the cheapest 4×6 prints around? Photofun.com charges a mere 5 cents per 4×6 print. Compare that to the 14-cent average among online photo finishers and per-print costs that range from 25 cents to 95 cents for inkjet printers (according to a recent Consumer Reports study), and you know where to send that huge batch of photos that you’ve been putting off printing.
