A digital camera is nothing without a sturdy battery. Thus, Panasonic has released firmware updates on its batteries to prevent possible injuries resulting from overheating and short-circuiting. Firmware updates are being released for battery pack models DMW-BCF10, DMW-BCG10 and DMW-BLB13. Moreover, Panasonic is also issuing the updates to encourage consumers to not use third-party batteries, as they might “not meet the rigid safety standards Panasonic uses.” So is safety the primary concern, or whether or not their customers use their batteries?

If you have one of the applicable Panasonic batteries, you can go here on Panasonic’s website to download the firmware.
