New podcast shows simpler yet edgier side of social media

There are a lot of podcasts about social media. There are great ones, and there are not-so-great ones. On June 4, a new great one will debut (if I do say so myself).

The Quick’n'Dirty podcast (because social media does not have to be complicated) will debut in a snappy, 45 minute format. I’m teaming with Aaron Strout, friend and CMO of Powered, to bring forward some quick yet informative conversations around social business for both the B2B and the B2C (with some tidbits about how marketing, in many ways, is often C2C these days). This idea originated after a hearty point / counterpoint debate held over dinner last month.

Here’s the format:

  • Case study (alternate B2B/B2C)
  • Featured guest
  • Opposing viewpoints based on the week’s hot post/topic
  • Review of a social network du jour (think FourSquare, Plurk, Tripit)
  • Discuss a new exec that is blogging or twittering
  • Challenge to listeners

We’re excited. Aaron and I have enough edge between the two of us to keep this interesting — and neither of us are afraid to speak what is truly on our minds. There’s even a logo design contest with a cool prize package. It’s not a ZDNet thing so the details are over here.

However, each week I will blog here on ZDNet about what we learned during the podcast. The podcast link will come soon. Hope you have you join us!
