Holiday Gift Guide 2009: Best Bluetooth headsets
Attached to service contracts, mobile phones are an awfully hard gift to give. But if you’ve got a friend or family member who is always chatting away on their cell phone, a Bluetooth headset might be an easy, inexpensive (for a gadget) gift that keeps their hands warm when the weather goes south for the winter.
The third incarnation of the Jawbone sets the standard for noise-cancellation and sound quality on a Bluetooth headset. It also cuts a sharp and colorful profile on the jawline, with seven colors (black, brown, silver, green, red, yellow, purple) to choose from.

Android 1.6 officially receives Google Maps Navigation
Own a Google Android phone and feel a little miffed that the Motorola Droid got all the good stuff?
Google announced on Monday that its Google Maps Navigation software, which offers turn-by-turn GPS navigation for your car and your palm, will be available for Android 1.6 Donut, the operating system found on an up-to-date T-Mobile G1, myTouch 3G, HTC Hero, HTC Droid Eris and most other Android phones out in the wild.
(Motorola CLIQ, HTC Hero and Droid Eris users, keep in mind that you’re using Android 1.5.)
While I can’t say for sure how well the program will run on the G1, which has the smallest amount of memory in the Android roost, I can certainly say that it’s a huge deal for those with the Hero and myTouch 3G.
Google Maps Navigation can be downloaded from the Android Market now.

AT&T, Apple to Verizon: 'Can your phone and your network do that?'
The battle between AT&T and Verizon just won’t cease.
Shortly after AT&T debuted Luke Wilson noting that Verizon’s only winning attribute against it was the letter “V” comes a pair of iPhone commercials that end with the phrase, “Can your phone and your network do that?”
I don’t think they’re talking about Sprint and T-Mobile, if you catch my drift.
The ads, after the jump:

Amazon slashes price of Palm Pre to $79.99, Pixi to $24.99
Amazon has slashed the price of the Palm Pre to $79.99 with a two-year contract from Sprint.
The retailer is also offering free activation of the phone.
Leaving no stone unturned, the retailer also slashed the price of the brand-new Pixi handset to just $24.99, also with free activation.
(Sprint sells the Pre for $149.99 and the Pixi for $99.99.)
But is it enough to save Palm?
The Pre was once a top-flight premium phone, but its price point is exposing how quickly Palm’s devices are sliding in the marketplace. if a fair price is what the market will bear, then the market isn’t very enthused about Palm’s devices.
Will these prices be enough to move more Pre and Pixi units? Or does Palm need more carriers and more phones to compete?

Rumored HTC 'Dragon' Google phone to spar with iPhone, Droid
It was just a month ago that Motorola’s Droid emerged as the best-equipped competitor to Apple’s popular iPhone, but another HTC phone is reportedly waiting in the wings to best them both.
The HTC Dragon, also known as the Passion, is rumored to be in the palms and pockets of “senior Android guys at Google,” reports Michael Arrington at TechCrunch, undergoing testing and poised to make a run at the smartphone throne, or so us reporters would like to think.
