Apple's Cook looking at 'iPhone business model' in Jobs' absence
Apple acting CEO Tim Cook, filling in for Steve Jobs, is confident in the company’s forecast for this quarter, and has hinted of iPhone price changes, new handsets and — yes — even Netbook computers, reports the Boston Globe.
Cook has said that he is spending more time on new products, how Apple can take the iPhone into new markets, and examining iPhone’s business model, according to analyst Toni Sacconaghi.
Cook, in charge of day-to-day operations while Jobs takes medical leave through June, and Schiller indicated the company had “very exciting” plans for the iPhone this year, Sacconaghi says in the article.
Interestingly, while Apple doesn’t appear to be creating a netbook for “imminent” release, Cook described them as “an interesting opportunity.”
For better or worse, Netbooks clearly have Cook’s attention.
Sacconaghi also said that he sees Apple delivering new iPhones midyear, and expects a new iMac desktop in March, according to the article.
UPDATE: AppleInsider reports that the company is looking into tiered data plans.
