Gateway today announced its new compact and lightweight TC Series notebook line, which sports a 14-inch display and starts at $649.99.

The Gateway TC Series was designed to function as a user’s main notebook. The 14-inch “Ultrabright” HD backlit widescreen display (1366×768 resolution; 8ms response time) offers a 16:9 aspect ratio, all the rage nowadays.

On the outside, the notebooks edges are sculpted and the device is clad in silver accents on the side. It’s available in two colors, burgundy and black, and sports a textured palm rest.

The notebook tips the scales at 5.3 lbs., and it has an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam and 802.11b/g Draft-N wireless.

Additionally, audio has full HD audio support and the notebook has a built-in microphone. On the outside, the machine has a 5-in-1 media card reader (SD, MMC, MS, MS Pro and xD) as well as three USB 2.0 ports and Illuminated Multimedia Touch Controls.

The Gateway TC Series is available now for $649.99. The first models available are the TC7306u in black and the TC7307u in burgundy, both with the following specs:

  • Intel Pentium Dual-Core Mobile T4200 processor (2.00 GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)
  • 4GB of Dual Channel DDR2 667MHz Memory
  • Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M
  • 8X Multi-Format Dual Layer DVDRW w/ DVD-RAM drive
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1 64-bit
  • Microsoft Works 9.0
  • 60-day trial of Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007.

The company says future configurations can include Intel Core 2 Duo tech as well as an HDMI port. The series can support up to 500GB of storage space and 4GB of DDR2 memory, as well as Blu-ray and dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 9300M graphics supporting Microsoft DirectX 10.

They’re backed by a one year limited warranty.
