Thecus unveils 'world's smallest fully-featured NAS device'
Thecus today introduced its N0204 miniNAS device, what it calls “the world’s smallest fully-featured NAS device.”
Measuring 132 mm by 88 mm by 63 mm, the N0204 is about the size of an external hard drive, but is in fact a two-bay, hot-swappable, auto-build ready NAS device (it houses two 2.5-in. SATA hard disks, providing up to 1TB of storage) that can be managed with RAID 0, 1, and JBOD.
The N0204 comes with Thecus’ Nsync for remote replication as well as the company’s backup utility.
Thecus says the N0204 can function as a complete media hub with its built-in iTunes server, photo web server, and media server; plug in a USB web cam, and it can be “the world’s tiniest home surveillance server.”
Thecus says the N0204 uses between 25 and 30 percent of the power of traditional two-bay NAS devices, and can be scheduled to power on/off for better power management. It supports USB printers, external hard disks, USB web cam, and even USB WLAN adapters.
