Turn your laptop into a tablet with Tablo

Tablets can be expensive. If the price of a tablet has been keeping you from owning one, there’s a new solution that might fill the void of your tablet-less life. Brando is selling a $99 USB pen input device that transforms your laptop into a tablet.

The SISO Tablo for Laptop is made up of a webcam-sized receiver that sits on the top of your laptop’s screen, and captures movement through a special tablet pen. It’s only compatible with Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, but it acts just like a real tablet, making it possible to draw, write, sketch, and illustrate. You don’t even have to touch the pen to the screen — Tablo works on the air, just like the Nintendo Wii.

Tablo works with multiple software, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, PDF, Microsoft Outlook, Sticky Note, and more. You can even attach the sensor to a piece of paper or a notepad while you’re taking notes, and the device will transfer your writing to your computer. Although I have yet to actually get my hands on the Tablo, for under $100, it seems like a good alternative to a pricey tablet. Find it at USB.Brando.com.
